Simple summary

We investigate whether more (or more accessible) green space is linked to fewer anxiety/depression problems in general practice. Where available, patient address‑level exposure is used. Results are reported at group level only.

Technical Summary

We analyse associations between depression/anxiety and psychoactive prescriptions in adults (2014–2023) and residential green space availability/access. Intego provides clinical data (~600,000 patients; ICPC‑2/ATC). VITO provides green‑space and traffic exposure data; annual air pollution means (PM2.5, ozone, nitric oxide, black carbon) are available via the Belgian Interregional Environment Agency and integrated by VITO.

Health outcomes

Registered diagnoses of anxiety and depression, and prescriptions for antidepressants and benzodiazepines.
