Intego Basis

The core research project of Intego focuses on studying epidemiological trends in general practice. For this purpose, standardized methods have been developed, which are also used in master's theses by medical students.

The Intego database is hosted on the Healthdata platform (https://healthdata.sciensano.be/en). Due to the large volume of data, efficient data management is a constant task for the Intego team. Through the website, we aim to quickly and clearly visualize and share our data and results. Basic data is also made available via the FAIR portal (https://fair.healthdata.be/).

For the many Intego projects, it is important to maintain a stable network and strive to expand it in order to further refine the geographical scope of the Intego data.

Intego stands for collaboration, both with internal partners (UZ/KU Leuven) and external partners (other universities, government institutions, and commercial partners). Commercial partners can support ongoing Intego research through a scientific grant. More information about this can be found under ‘Intego for’.

Ongoing research lines:

  • Epidemiology of chronic diseases in general practice
  • Epidemiology of infectious diseases in general practice
  • Development of methodologies to optimize registration data
  • Research into the impact of the COVID pandemic on care in general practice
  • Epidemiology of mental disorders in general practice
